Festival of the Sacrifice

The 12th annual Eid al-Adha Dinner sponsored by the Muslim Students Association featured both South Asian, Middle Eastern and Persian treats and a talk given by John Esposito, one of the world’s leading scholars on Islam. Esposito presented a talk titled “Islam and the West: Confrontation or Accommodation?” The Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Festival of the Sacrifice, commemorates the prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to God and marks the end of Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca.
