    Internet Update

Principals from a number of Chicago schools came to campus recently to discuss the progress of the Chicago Public Schools/University of Chicago Internet Project, a collaborative effort to fully integrate the Internet with the curricula of 29 public schools in the greater University community. The school principals gathered for the recent meeting at the Quadrangle Club to provide feedback to those involved in the project, including Don York (above, at left), the Horace B. Horton Professor in Astronomy & Astrophysics. York worked with Duel Richardson (far right), Director of Neighborhood Relations in the Office of the Vice President for Community Affairs, to develop the project. CIUP, as it is known, emphasizes complete support for the schools in the areas of infrastructure, system management, teacher training and curriculum development.
