    Vice President, Dean of Students begins reorganization with new appointments, additional duties for staff

    Several promotions in the Office of the Vice President and Dean of Students in the University have been approved and will be effective Friday, March 1.

    Margo Marshak, Vice President and Dean of Students in the University, said the appointments were made to better integrate the offices under her supervision.

    Steve Klass, Deputy Dean for Housing and Dining Services and Assistant Dean of the College, has been appointed to the new position of Associate Vice President and Deputy Dean of Students in the University. Klass will oversee the Bursar, the Registrar, Physical Education and Athletics, the Office of Graduate Affairs, the Office of International Affairs, Housing and Dining Services, and Transportation Services.

    Bill Michel, Deputy Dean in Student Services for Development and Student Activities, will now serve as Deputy Dean of Students in the University. Michel will continue to serve as Assistant Dean of the College and also will oversee Career and Placement Services, the Office of the Reynolds Club and Student Activities, and the University Student Service Center. Michel will continue to serve as the divisionís primary liaison to the College, to Development and Alumni Relations, and to the arts.

    Marshak also has appointed Roberta Cohen, Deputy Dean of Students in Student Services for Administration and Planning, to serve as Deputy Dean of Students in the University for Administration and Planning. Grace Chan, Associate Dean of Students in Student Services, will now serve as Associate Dean of Students in the University and oversee the work of the Academic Publications Office and the Testing Office in addition to her current responsibilities as Director of Student Health Affairs. Sherry Gutman, Director of the University Housing System, has been appointed to Associate Dean of Students in the University for Housing and Dining Services. She also will serve as Assistant Dean of the College and will assume Klassí former responsibilities for Housing, Dining and Transportation Services.
