    A ‘victory lap’ for Maroons

President Randel welcomes Jay Berwanger (A.B., ’36), the first Heisman Trophy winner, to the University’s Homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 20. As part of the activities, Berwanger arrived at Stagg Field and took a ‘victory lap’ in the 1922 Milburn Light Electric car once owned by legendary football coach Amos Alonzo Stagg. Stagg, who served as the University’s athletic director from 1892 to 1932, donated the vehicle to the Museum of Science and Industry in 1933.
