University community
responds to an American tragedy
University faculty
members, students and staff joined President Randel and representatives of the
Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Buddhist faiths on the Main Quad last
Wednesday to remember those who died in the Tuesday, Sept. 11 attacks on the
World Trade Center in New York; the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; and the
hijacked plane that crashed outside of Pittsburgh, Penn. The interfaith
ceremony was coordinated by Alison Boden, Dean of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel,
and her staff. Nearly 250 people gathered for prayer and to listen to readings
from sacred texts.
