Regenstein recarpeting project to improve user and staff areas

The Joseph Regenstein Library staff expects some disruptions during a recarpeting project that will begin Monday, June 11, and will continue through the end of August.

Geoffrey Stone, Provost for the University, has made available $1 million in special funds to recarpet the reading rooms and staff areas in the library.

“The project also provides an opportunity to rearrange furniture and collections in the reading rooms to better serve our users,” said Jim Vaughan, Assistant Director for Access & Facilities for the University Library.

University Facilities Services will be working with the carpet installation company Vortex Enterprises and the moving company Hallett Movers to ensure as little disruption as possible for library patrons during the project.

More information about the recarpeting project is at www.lib.uchicago.edu.
