    Shoreland repair

Workers put up scaffolding that will support a protective canopy at the Shoreland Residence Hall in preparation for work on the building’s terra-cotta facade. In a recent series of inspections following its adoption of more stringent codes for structures throughout Chicago, the Chicago Department of Buildings inspected Shoreland’s facade. Severe winter weather last year caused some damage that will be repaired after the University conducts a closer inspection of the building. The Shoreland is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.
