  • Dance of Golden Dragons Concert
    University World Music Concert Series and International House
    Dance of Golden Dragons Concert–A Millennium Concert in Celebration of Chinese New Year
    3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3
    In celebration of Chinese New Year, the World Music Concert Series and the International House will present a Dance of Golden Dragons Concert. East Meets West Music Arts Ensemble with Wang Guowei and Ke Ming will perform. Other Chinese New Year events at International House, including a Chinese dinner and dance party, will follow the concert. For more information about these events, call 753-2274.     The winner of several major prizes, including first prize at the 1997 Borciani Competition, the Artemis Quartet is widely regarded as one of the finest young European quartets today. The members of this quartet will perform music by Stravinksy, Berg and Beethoven.

    This season’s Regents Park Discovery Concert will feature young percussionist Colin Currie. At age 15, Currie won the Gold Medal of the Shell/London Symphony Orchestra Music Scholarship. Two years later he became the first percussion finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. He has since gone on to solo with orchestras in Britain and the United States. This concert marks his Chicago debut.
