How to top off a winter day

Mark Andreotottola tops his sundae at an ice cream social, an event that helped kick off the week long winterfest, Kuviasungnerk. The University’s 18th annual Kuviasungnerk, an Eskimo word meaning “happy times,” also included a snowman-building contest, a polar bear run and snow Frisbee. If you haven’t had a chance to partake of the festivities, a march to the lakefront at dawn tomorrow to “salute the sun” begins at 6:30 a.m. The marchers will step off from Henry Crown Field House toward Promontory Point, where they will perform the “salute to the sun” yoga ritual as the sun rises. The sun has come out only four times in the history of the salute.
