    Memorial service is scheduled to honor Merton Miller from the GSB

    A memorial service for Merton Miller, the Robert R. McCormick Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Finance in the Graduate School of Business and a 1990 Nobel laureate, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14.

    The service will be held in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave.

    A reception will follow at the University’s Law School, 1111 E. 60th St.

    Miller, who died at the age of 77, won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1990.

    He shared the prize with Franco Modigliani, with whom he developed the “M&M Theorems” on capital structure and dividend policy that are the foundations of the theory of corporate finance.
