    Special Olympics

At the 32nd annual Special Olympics Chicago Spring Games held on campus at the end of May, University students cheered, trained and sponsored Olympians during the three-day event. An Olympic Town was created at Stagg Field, where special events, competitions, sports clinics and entertainment filled its tennis courts. Three basketball clinics––“Shoot-the-
Hoop,” three-on-three games, and a free-throw and slam-dunk contest––were part of the action in which University students participated. The games were co-sponsored by the Chicago Park District & Special Children’s Charities in cooperation with the University, Chicago Public Schools and the Illinois Special Olympics.
