Regenstein lot to get new entrance

Last Monday, Pepper Construction began work at 57th Street and the Regenstein parking lot to create a new southern entrance to that lot.

The construction is preparatory work for the groundbreaking of the new residence halls this spring.

According to Meredith Mack, Director of Facilities Services, the southern entrance will open by Saturday, March 4, when the entrance off 56th Street will be permanently closed.

By mid-March, when groundbreaking begins, the northern half of the lot will close.

About half of the permit holders in the Regenstein lot will be reassigned to other lots in March, said Mack. The other half will be reassigned in June.

“Permit holders will be notified about their reassignments,“ said Mack, adding that permit holders will eventually use the new parking structure scheduled to open next fall.

The Regenstein lot will become the green space for a new quadrangle border by the library, the new residence halls and Bartlett dining hall.
